We have our gym and fitness programmes, the Cafe and the events but are combining this holistically into a complete well-being programme.
  • How much do I need to pay up front?

You can reserve your room for £1 online or in the office. We will then prepare a tenancy agreement for you to sign detailing the instalment dates going forward. This would normally require you to pay a £299 non refundable holding fee and a £100 Tenancy Fee on or around 24th April. Bookings made after 24th April may have other conditions attached. Should you decide not to proceed, your holding fee of £299 and Tenancy Fee of £100 is non-refundable. • Does the rent include bills?

Included within the rent are water rates & direct fibre broadband internet, as a student you are exempt from council tax fees, so naturally you would not have to pay this.

With regards to electricity, we have 2 options; Electricity included & Electricity exclusive.

If you would prefer have an Electricity inclusive option* then we can do that for you, it will simply be £10 extra per week and it will free you of the hassle of dealing with bills and be more cost effective per unit. (*Capped at £400 for the year.)

If you wish to manage your own bills then you can choose our Electricity excluded option, where CODE Students Utilities Dept will bill you directly for your usage but this option is not as cost effective per unit as our Electricity included option.

CODE has arranged valuable free contents insurance for you with Endsleigh, the No.1 student insurance provider to the value of £6000. We recommend that you review the Free cover provided and consider any additional cover for high value items or cover outside of your room. It is important for you to check this cover, so please follow the steps below to ensure you fully understand the protection provided. Enter in your policy number HH1287 at to check your policy details. Visit the review cover link to:

    • Check what is covered.
    • Check key exclusions and limitations.
    • Check your policy excess.
    • Check how to make a claim.
    • Extend and personalise your cover to protect laptops, phones and other valuables.

It is important to find out exactly what you are covered for, as you may find that the contents cover is not sufficient and you need to extend it to protect all of your possessions both inside and outside of your room.

  • Do you have anywhere I can store my bike?

Yes we do. Although DMU is just a short walk across Bede Park we do have plenty of secure Bike storage within our Western Road gated complex. For you own peace of mind, provided your Bike is secured with a D Lock inside the secure Bike store, then it is also covered by your free insurance for theft.

  • Would you recommend bringing a Bike?

CODE have worked with SUSTRANS to bring these great reasons for getting on your Bike.

    1. Leicester has a very cycle friendly city centre as well as easy, quiet cycle routes between the two university campuses.
    2. You can cycle from CODE into the city centre entirely on protected cycle paths, no need to cycle with other traffic. Plus there is at least 10 miles of traffic-free cycle routes along the river and canal taking you right through the city, through the many parks and out to the countryside.
    3. Cycling is the easiest and fastest way to get around, and is cheaper than the bus, taxi or car. Cycling in Leicester is practical for popping to and from either uni, for food shopping, going out to the pub, or out for ride to relax and keep fit!
    4. You can easily plan your route using the free paper cycle maps (available at CODE and the Tourist Info Centre), or online using (for really local, up-to-date travel advice) or just use googlemaps.
    5. There are three bike shops within half a mile of CODE, where you can buy bikes, locks, parts and get your bike fixed and maintained. Plus both universities usually run free ‘Dr Bike’ bike fixing sessions throughout the year.
    6. There are very cheap, indoor, secure bike parks both in the Town Hall Square and at the train station where you can leave your bike and not worry about security, as well as many secure bike racks to lock to around the city centre and universities.
    7. There are loads of free led bike rides around the city and out to the countryside, for all levels of confidence, many start from Bede Park, right next to CODE. See and (click ‘Find a Ride’ and type LE3 0GH)
    8. And if you’re REALLY into bikes there’s a whole world of cycle passion you can join in with, including ‘The Bike Lounge’ which happens at a Café 96 Degrees just round the corner from CODE (see, and there are many more cycle events throughout the year (see
    9. Finally - it’'s cheap, easy, fun, environmentally friendly and surprisingly efficient - did you know that you can cycle 9 miles using the calories of just one apple?!

As ever your safety and welfare is of the utmost importance to us. If you're worried about the safety of any equipment in your room or the communal areas, please contact the Office or Security Team.

  • Do you have Parking available?

As we are in close proximity to DMU, which is a short walk across Bede Park, and UOL there is no parking on site and it is a condition of staying at CODE that you are unable to park within a 5km radius of the site.

With the Universities and the City Centre so close by and excellent shops on nearby Narborough Rd we do not recommend bringing a vehicle at all but do suggest that you use a Bike as we have a secure Bike store and your Bike will be insured for Free.

For move in and move out we do offer managed parking arrangements for these periods only and details are communicated to you nearer the time.
