Charities and good causes

We are proud to be part of the Coventry community, which is why each year we help local charities, individuals and initiatives with their fund raising - all with the help of our students.

Accommodation Manager Lewis Morris said: "As a local boy, it's great to see us giving back to the community. The Foodbank is particularly close to my heart.

"Parents have to choose between themselves or their children eating. That shouldn't happen in this day and age, so it's great we can support this cause with free donations."

Here are just some of the causes we've helped in the last year:

Clothing Sale for Women’s Aid Leicestershire and Rainbows Charity

Double the giving, double the impact! We hosted a massive clothing sale featuring everything from new high street brands to pre-loved vintage pieces. Every purchase went directly towards making a difference. Thanks to the support of everyone, we raised an amazing £3000 to split between Women’s Aid Leicestershire and Rainbows Charity

Adam Redfern Trust CPR Support and Training

Thanks to the support of Adam Redfern Trust, our students and staff completed a hands-on First Aid Training session, equipping them with important, life-saving skills. Not only did this session bring our community together, but it also gave them the confidence and knowledge to act fast during crucial situations.

Easy Fundraising

We give back to the community daily- and in this case, with our shopping. By partnering with Easy Fundraising, the retailers we use donate part of our spending to the charity of our choice: Women’s Aid Leicestershire. And we have already raised over £5000 this year!

The Trussel Trust Coventry Foodbank

Some families in the City are choosing between eating and heating. This is why we regularly contribute to the Trussell Trust food bank, providing emergency food for people in crisis. In 2018/19, the charity’s food bank gave three-day emergency food supplies to more than 20,000 people in the city.

Supplies for RSPCA Coventry branch

Each year, our students leave behind a selection of items they no longer want, including lots of bedding and pillows. These used items are put to go use... donated to the local RSPCA branch to help make the stay a bit easier for their rescue animals.

Supporting individuals - like Craig Field

Coventry University graduate Craig battled and survived cancer when he was 17 and should have been running the London Marathon in April 2020 for the Teenage Cancer Trust.

Before the pandemic hit, we helped him with his fundraising efforts with a cheque and donations for his fundraising raffle. Craig ended up smashing his target.... well done Craig.

Christmas Jumper Day for Save the Children

Life is much more fun when you’re wearing a jumper with a penguin on it. Or a reindeer. Or a load of tinsel. And CODE always likes to get Christmassy!

In previous years, we’ve signed up to Christmas Jumper Day, raising money for Save the Children.
