Bins and recycling

Bins and recycling

You’ve just arrived at your new home, people to meet, exciting opportunities and new experiences everywhere - it’s the question on everyone lips…

…where are the bins? The bins in your room are 50 litres, so they do hold a lot before they need emptying. But once they do, worry not - we’ve got you covered:

Where to find all things rubbish

Bins are located in the tunnel that runs along the ground floor, underneath Blocks B, C and D.

Green bins are for general waste and blue bins are for mixed recycling. There will always be bins for you in the tunnel but general waste is collected weekly on a Tuesday and recycling is collected every other week on a Tuesday.

DON’T FORGET TO RECYCLE!

We love our planet and like to encourage everyone to recycle as much as possible. Remember to rinse all items that contained food or drink as no food waste will be accepted.

Below is a list of items that can go into the recycling bins:

  • Plastic bottles
  • Plastic food containers
  • Plastic film
  • Carrier bags
  • Food tins
  • Drink can
  • Foil trays
  • Empty aerosols

  • Glass bottles

Litter busting tips

PICK UP YOUR LITTER!

CODE is a great community. Please be considerate of your neighbours and don’t drop litter.

Our staff perform regular litter picks and our cleaners are fantastic, but if you see any litter lying around please do your bit and pick it up.

RECYCLING DOESN'T STOP THERE

You can drop any of your old batteries, ink cartridges and mobile phones into the CODE Office and we can recycle these for you too. We also offer a charity service so if you have anything you wish to donate; clothes, books, homeware etc. bring it to the CODE office, we will ensure it gets to those in need.

DON'T LEAVE RUBBISH IN THE CORRIDORS

Please make sure you take your rubbish all the way down to the bins. Leaving rubbish in the corridors is not only unpleasant for your neighbours but also a fire risk.

We will use CCTV to check who has left rubbish out and will make a £20 charge to anyone identified or caught doing this
