🛒 Supermarkets

Morrisons Daily

Need a quick bite? Morrisons Daily is just 5 metres from our office, or right downstairs if you’re in Block G!

Tesco Superstore 

Your big weekly shop is sorted. Tesco Superstore is just around the corner, with everything you need from snacks to essentials.

Tesco Express 

Tesco Express is just a short walk through Bede Park, it's perfect for grabbing food on your way to lectures.

Lidl 

Lidl is another great option for stocking up on your student essentials and only a 5 minute walk away.

The Farmlands Oriental Supermarket 农家超市

Fancy making your favourite Asian dishes? Farmlands Oriental Supermarket is just across from DMU, with a huge range of Asian groceries and ingredients.

🍜 Food and drink

Narborough Road 

Right next to CODE, Narborough Road is packed with food, drinks and everyday essentials. From Caribbean and Turkish food to cafés and international supermarkets, there’s plenty to explore.

The Western 

Right next to our office, The Western is ideal for a quick bite or drinks with friends. Expect classic pub food and good drinks, all on your doorstep.

Braunstone Gate

Just a short walk from CODE, Braunstone Gate is packed with food, coffee and places to hang out. Grab Japanese food at Little Tokyo, Turkish favourites at Efes Mangal or coffee and brunch at 96 Degrees.

Local shops that offer student discount 

Head into Leicester city centre and you’ll find Highcross shopping centre, packed with shops, restaurants and student-friendly deals. Grab a bite at Wagamama, Wingstop, Nando’s, PizzaExpress and more, and remember to take your student ID for the latest discounts.

🎨 Be a Tourist

Leicester Museum and Art Gallery 

Leicester Museum has a great Egyptian and dinosaur exhibition, it's well worth checking out!

National Space Centre  

Those who love space or those who want to know more about it, should visit the space centre. The NASA artifacts and the huge rocket is impressive!

King Richard III 

Leicester has a huge amount of history, but King Richard III is the only monarch found under a car park!

A little further out of the city is Bradgate Park. Lady Jane Grey, who was Queen for 9 days, was born at Bradgate house.

🚌 Getting around Leicester

Majority of things you will need when moving to Leicester is right on your doorstep. However, if you want to travel by bus there are several different buses. 

  • Centrebus will take you around the city centre.
  • Arriva travel and First Bus travels all around Leicester.
  • You can also head to St Margaret’s Bus Station if you wish to travel out of Leicester.
