First of all we would like to thank you again for choosing to live with CODE STUDENT ACCOMMODATION.
We hope that we have provided you with a comfortable home whilst at University.
It is coming to the end of your contract and if you are leaving us then you will need to know how and where to return your keys.
- Your keys will be due back to us by midday on or before the end date on your contract, if you are unsure of this then please log in to check on your student portal under the grey “Documents and Offers” section
- A key return booklet is available from the Office.
CODE Leicester tenants: You can also download a copy, complete online, and return it by email.
CODE Classics tenants: You can also download a copy, complete online, and return it by email.
To return your keys, our office opening times are Monday - Saturday 9am – 5.30pm | Sunday CLOSED
- Your keys are your responsibility. If the keys are not returned to us, please be aware that it may be necessary for us to enter the room and clear the contents after your tenancy has ended. There will be a charge of £85 for a lock change as well as a charge for clearing the flat.
- We are unable to store personal items that are left in your room therefore we recommend that you use Charity recycling points rather than items being discarded.
- If you have a bike, please remember to take your cycle with you when you leave. Alternatively, please speak to a member of staff in the CODE Office and we can arrange for your bike to be recycled if you prefer. Should a bike be left without prior agreement then it will be considered abandoned and will have to be disposed of or recycled.
Things we check when you move out
We inspect your flat carefully after you have handed in your keys. This includes your mattress, appliances, and fixtures.
We take photos of all the key areas and items and assess whether any damage has occurred. If it has, we will deduct the cost of the repair or replacement from your £400 tenancy deposit.
We have outlined some of the more common problem areas, where you could incur charges. Be sure to take extra time when moving out with the following:
Mattress Stained
Your mattress was checked by our staff before your arrival and the purchase of a mattress protector was recommended. Your mattress was an inventory item and any issues were to be noted on move in.
On leaving, do check both sides of your mattress. We cannot pass on to the incoming student any mattress that has stains on – be that tea, drinks or bodily fluids.
We will have to charge if either side of your mattress is stained.
Hob Scratched
Hobs become scratched through inappropriate use. Our head office hob has been used by 20 people for over 5 years and is a good example of what a hob should look like even after heavy usage.
If your hob is scratched we will attempt to resurface it and if successful this will cost £20, but if it’s damaged beyond repair then it will cost £220 for a replacement.
