A great way to make new friends while at university is to join a society. You’ll be involved with weekly socials and activities with like-minded people that share the same interests.
Each Student Union offers a wide range of societies and you can even create your own if you can’t find what you’re looking for.
We can help your societyHere at CODE we are always open to working with societies. If you want to make use of any of our facilities get in touch and we will be happy to arrange it. We even offer societies the chance to book our communal spaces for free! This means you can meet your new society on site and catch up in our dance studio, study spaces or student lounge. |

Increase your fitness
By joining an active club it goes without saying your fitness will go up. A sports club will add structure and routine to your workouts.
Make friends
You’ll meet like-minded people at societies with shared interests - so making friends shouldn’t be too hard!
Relieve stress
Take your mind off studying with a hobby. These distractions are important to your mental wellbeing so give yourself a break and relax!
Improve your confidence
If you’re a little shy then bonding over a joint interest is often the easiest way to get to know people. Joining a club will help you develop your social and interpersonal skills that can transfer over to other areas of your life.
Enhance your CV
Employers will appreciate the teamwork aspect of being in a society. You can also get more involved in a management capacity whether it be running the finances, organising events, or marketing.
