Dark coloured sheets can also transfer dye to your mattress - so you might want to choose light colours as well as using that mattress protector. 

There are many brands of adhesive tacks and wall strips on the market, which claim not to damage paintwork or leave stains. 

Some of these will do as they promise but it is your responsibility if they do damage the paintwork. 

You may be better adding these to non-porous surfaces or just sticking to your pin board.
