Fobs, keys and your intercom

Safe and secure

Your safety is of utmost importance to us – that’s why we've installed turnstiles at our main entrances to the site (Block B and D Foyer), these are also fob activated for extra security. This allows you to get in and out of the building safely.

What you can access

TURNSTILES

Our turnstiles are there to help keep you safe and secure during your stay with us.

If you are arriving to site and you have large items, ie: bikes, shopping, suitcases etc, then you can use the main door in front of the office during office hours. If you need access out of hours, then you can contact our security team who will be able to let you in.

KEYS AND FOB

Your fob could be one of your most important possessions while at CODE! It will give you access to the gym (after you've completed your induction in the office) and the communal rooms.

You will also receive a key for your post box and a key to your room.

INTERCOM

The phone next to your door is used for visitors. The visitor will dial your room number from the ground floor and this will call your phone. When this is ringing, just pick it up to talk. If you would like to let the person in, press and hold the buzzer to unlock the door, then release and hang up on the phone.

If you are not expecting a visitor, don’t let anyone in that you don’t know! If you ever feel unsafe, please contact our security, they’re a lovely bunch.

Issues with your keys and fobs

LOST KEYS

If you do have the misfortune of losing your keys, we will ask you to pay:

  • Replacement Key - £20
  • Replacement Post Box Key – £20
  • Replacement Fob - £20

So you may find it useful to have an extra large keyring or safe place you always put your keys. Be careful, when carrying them loose in bags or pockets

KEYS LEFT SOMEWHERE/IN YOUR ROOM

Please try to keep your keys with you at all times, but if you do accidentally leave them at a friend's house, or lock yourself out of you room don't worry. Simply contact us and we'll let you into your studio. We will need to ask for ID to make sure it's you.

TAILGATING

It's very easy to reach the gates/doors at the same time as another student. And while it might feel rude to close the door behind you, that's the best way to stay safe.

Not everyone will have access to the site, even if they look like a fellow student. So please don't allow other people to follow you (known as tailgating) onto the site.
