“Electricity Allowance” Contracts

Where you have accepted an “Electricity Allowance” contract, a set electricity allowance will be included in the price of your rent.

The average cost of UK electricity prices has rapidly increased over the last few years and has reached new highs in 2022. As such, CODE is currently trying to negotiate the best deal it can with a new electricity supplier for 2023/24 tenants.

We are trying to secure the lowest price and as such details of the scheme will be communicated to you (the tenant) once a deal is signed, no later than 30 September 2023.

With an “Electricity Allowance” contract, if you exceed your allowance, you will be charged for each unit you use. This price will be set in line with market conditions.

It is important you monitor your energy use by reading the monthly usage emails sent to you by CODE (which show the percentage of your allowance used) and, to enable you to stretch your allowance, reduce your energy use wherever possible.

Please note, the cost of your electricity also includes a standing charge, charged by the energy supplier, which covers the cost of supplying your studio with electricity.

“Electricity Excluded” Contracts

Where you have accepted an “Electricity Excluded” contract, you will be billed directly for your use and agree to promptly pay all electricity bills raised by CODE Students for the electricity supplied to your room.

You acknowledge that the landlord will enter into a contract with a supplier and you will not be able to transfer the supply to any other supply company.

CODE Students (The landlord) will bill you (the tenant) for the electricity used on/around the 28th of each month (for example, 28th September, 28th October etc).

The cost of UK electricity prices have rapidly increased over the last few years and has reached new highs in 2022. As such, CODE is currently trying to negotiate the best deal it can with a new electricity supplier for 2023/24 tenants.

CODE will send you bills for the amounts due and payable under the terms of this tenancy strictly in date order, the earliest first. Full details of the scheme to be communicated to you no later than 24 October 2023.
