Out of hours arrivals

Arriving out of hours

We are ready for you

Moving into your flat is really exciting – with a whole new space for you to make your own. But if you’re arriving outside of our normal office hours, you might be a little bit worried about how it will all work.

There is no need to panic, we’ve pulled together a number of helpful tips to make out of hours check in go as smoothly as possible.

Getting to us

Make sure you know the address of your accommodation.

Fairfax Street
Coventry
CV1 5GA

We also recommend you use an online map app such as Google or Apple Maps to find out where we are based.

Decide on how you are going to travel to CODE

If you’re arriving by train, we advise taking a taxi or Uber from Coventry train station. It is a short drive (5 mins) to the CODE building.

If you’re an international student, each university offers its own advice on transport links and how to travel to the city. But remember to make your way to the CODE building and not the university campus or accommodation.

Top tip: Click To Do > Arrival Date, then select 'Outside of the Above Times'

What to do when you arrive

Once you arrive, go to the main turnstiles in Fairfax Street (next to the Co-op entrance) and call Security. You will have received the Security number in your 'Welcome to CODE' email.

Our security team will let you into the building and unlock your room for you. This process will be quicker if you have booked your 'outside of the above times' move-in slot.

Security will then unlock your room for you and give you chance to move all your luggage in.

Please note,:

  • security will not be able to issue you with your keys.
  • you must have completed your Right to Rent (see below) to be allowed into your room. If you have not done so, we will not be able to give you access to your room.

You should be fine leaving your room unlocked for a short period if you are going back and forth but for your own security please keep any cash/high value items with you or put them in the safe in your room.

Contact security if you want to go out

We won’t be able to issue your keys until you have been to the office and completed a few bits of paperwork. However, if you want to go out, our Security Team can come and lock your room for you. You will find their number outside of the building.

Collecting your keys

To collect your keys, you should go to the office on the next working day. Our team will work through a short checklist with you that should take about 15-20 minutes.

Right to rent

As part of your contract with CODE Student Accommodation, we wanted to let you know that you will need to prove your Right to Rent before you can move in. This is a legal requirement for renting in England.

You can usually prove your Right to Rent by providing copies of one of the following:

  • A current or expired Irish passport or Irish passport card
  • A certificate of registration or naturalisation as a British citizen

These can be uploaded onto your student portal in the documents section.

Non-British/Non-Irish citizens

You can prove your Right to Rent to us but you must do so no more than 30 days before your move-in date.
You should provide:

  • A share code generated through your UKVI account
For more information, including how to generate a share code, please visit the official GOV.UK guidance: Prove your Right to Rent in England.
You should email this code to us at the email address below.
  • If you are unable to generate a share code, please contact us so we can discuss how to obtain copies of your original immigration documents.

Right of Abode in the UK

If you have the Right of Abode in the UK (this includes British citizens and some Commonwealth citizens), you can use a Certificate of Entitlement as proof. This may be:

  • A vignette (sticker) in your passport, or
  • A digital certificate in your UKVI account (you will need to generate a share code).
